Israeli Driver Growth, Police Memorial, and Regional Security Matters

– Increasing Number of Licensed Drivers in Israel:

Rapid growth in the number of licensed drivers in Israel has been highlighted in new data published by the Central Bureau of Statistics. A 30% increase over the last decade has driven the count up to 5.39 million, which equals 74% of those aged 16 and above. The data revealed a stark gender gap; 82% of men hold a driver’s license compared to 67% of women. Approximately 13% of Israelis license to operate motorcycles.

– Commemorating Fallen Police Officers:

A solemn memorial service to honor the 1,689 Israeli police officers who have fallen in service took place at the Police Division of the Military Cemetery on Mount Herzl. Israel’s Minister of National Security, Avigdor Lieberman, used his speech to express pride in his nation’s military, security agencies, and prison services.

– Israel Monitors Houthi Activity in Yemen:

The Israeli Military continues surveillance of Yemen, particularly in relation to Houthi rebels. Although there had been suggestions that the group would block the strategic Bab al-Mandab Strait or attack Israel, neither action has transpired. The Houthi’s unexpected quietness may be due to the negative implications of instigating attacks, such as unifying its neighbouring countries against them.

– Iranian-led Terror Network Revealed:

Israeli intelligence agencies have revealed an Iranian-led terror network targeting Israeli officials and strategic assets globally. The news follows the recent thwarting of the group’s planned attack on an oil pipeline and Jewish institutions in Azerbaijan. Bend to this discovery was a detailed investigation and militaristic operations that uncovered the covert terror mechanism.

– Protest Disrupts Ceremony in Tel Aviv:

A memorial ceremony was marred when protesters interrupted a speech by Minister of Immigration and Absorption, Ophir Akunis. The crowd brandished signs labelled “Government of Death”, causing a temporary suspension of the event and sparking confrontations among families in attendance. Despite heightened tensions, order was restored and the ceremony resumed without further incident.

– Former Mossad Chief Warns Against Trusting Iran:

Former Mossad chief, Yossi Cohen, delivered a stern warning against trusting Iran amid uncertain negotiations and a fragile ceasefire. In a speech broadcast globally, he stated that Iran’s fundamental ambitions will not change, regardless of any agreement or ceasefire. Cohen affirmed the necessity for continual vigilance and resilience, stressing that Israel’s security campaign is not over.
