– Trump Announces Peace Plan Progress between Israel and Hamas:

US President Donald Trump has declared that Israel and Hamas have accepted the first phase of his peace plan which envisions a ceasefire in Gaza and the liberation of all hostages. This agreement has been facilitated by international negotiators from Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey, and Trump is expected to further strengthen diplomatic relations with a visit to Israel next week following the deal’s confirmation by the Israeli government on Thursday.

– The Controversy of Missing Bodies and Unfulfilled Conditions:

Israel anticipates that Hamas will not locate all bodies of fallen soldiers based on confirmations from the country’s intelligence. Although this condition was posed with the knowledge that Hamas is unlikely to meet it, successful recovery of all bodies remains critical to ending the ongoing conflict. Mediation is ongoing to reach a resolution on this contentious issue.

– French President Macron Suffers Low Approval Ratings:

As per a recent Elabe poll for Les Échos, approval ratings of French President Emmanuel Macron have plummeted to a historic low of 14%. This notable decline has occurred over several months, with Macron losing 7 points in the last two months and 13 points since March 2025. Meanwhile, support for political figure Jordan Bardella maintains a stable popularity rate of 39%.

– Ongoing Talks Amid Ringing Ultimatums:

Indirect talks between Israel and Hamas have begun in Shearm el-Sheikh, Egypt, but warn of resumed fighting if progress is not made within a set time frame. Discussions revolve around the release of hostages and ending the war in Gaza in line with Trump’s previously established plan. Hamas has presented its demands for allowing displaced Gazans to return home and Israeli withdrawal from specified areas.

– Hamas Perceives War as Victory:

Despite measurable losses including a rising Palestinian death toll, Hamas views the situation as a victorious political stance. As Hamas continues to resist Israeli forces, it stakes its claim on the international political stage by appealing to global anti-Israel sentiment, viewing widespread destruction as an earned triumph.

– Merkel’s Upcoming Visit to Israel:

Former German Chancellor Angela Merkel is scheduled to visit Israel on November 9. Merkel will partake in a number of political meetings with President Isaac Herzog, PM Naftali Bennett and Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar, alongside a ceremony honoring her with an honorary doctorate at the Weizmann Institute of Science.

– Paris Summit and Anticipated Official Announcement:

While talks are underway in Egypt, Paris is hosting a summit to map out the future of Gaza with representatives from various Arab and Western countries. The summit intents to devise a coordinated approach to support the US peace plan for Gaza. Meanwhile, an official announcement regarding the peace deal between Israel and Hamas, encompassing the release of 48 captives and an end to the two-year-long war, appears imminent, possibly coinciding with President Trump’s upcoming visit to the Middle East.
