– Gaza Ceasefire and Hostage Release Announced:

U.S. President Donald Trump announced the initial phase of his plan to foster a ceasefire in Gaza and release hostages held by Hamas. The news was confirmed by both Israeli and Hamas sources, with the release of 20 lifetime kidnappings expected as early as this weekend. Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are also required to retreat within 24 hours as per the agreement.

– Israel’s Complex Ceasefire Condition:

Israel demands return of all bodies of their slain soldiers as a condition for ending the war in Gaza. The exact number of the bodies is unclear, with estimates ranging from seven to fifteen out of a total 28 known missing persons. These demands are made despite Israeli knowledge that Hamas may not be able to fulfill them. The discrepancy in estimates remains unexplained.

– Macron’s Popularity Reaches Historic Low:

According to a poll conducted by Elabe for Les Échos, French President Emmanuel Macron’s approval rating stands at a mere 14%, the lowest ever recorded by the pollsters. Macron’s backing has been steadily decreasing, showing a 13-point drop since March 2025. Competitor politicians such as Jordan Bardella and Marine Le Pen retain higher popularity ratings.

– Israel’s Ultimatum and Ongoing Negotiations:

If progress is not made in the Israel-Hamas negotiations within the next few days, Israel warns that military action may resume. Although there is cautious optimism for compromise, Israel strongly opposes Hamas’ demand for the release of its most heavily imprisoned Palestinians.

– Hamas Touts “Victory” Despite Destruction and Death Toll:

Despite the ruin in Gaza and a climbing Palestinian death toll reaching approximately 67,000, Hamas views the War as a political strategic victory in the international arena. Hamas’ framing of the high death toll and destruction as necessary sacrifices in its ongoing fight further intensifies international criticism towards Israel.

– Angela Merkel to Visit Israel:

Germany’s former chancellor Angela Merkel will visit Israel on November 9, where she is due to receive an honorary doctorate from the Weizmann Institute of Science. Merkel’s visit comes after she condemned Israel for their “merciless” treatment of civilians in Gaza, earlier this year.

– Deals Hinted; Trump’s Possible Middle East Visit:

A senior Israeli official hints at a potential deal to end the two-year-long Gaza War and release hostages. The action might begin as early as this week, as a gesture towards U.S President Trump, who has intimated a possible Middle East visit next week.

– Paris Summit on Gaza’s Future:

A Paris summit seeks to discuss the future of Gaza and assess the commitment the involved countries have to President Trump’s peace plan. Delegates from several Western and Arab countries will attend, with critical participation from the U.S anticipated depending on the progress of ongoing negotiations.
