– Seattle Election Stirs Jewish Community:

Kshama Sawant, a prominent Democratic voice reputed as the “Western Coast Squad,” has been elected Seattle’s Mayor, prompting wariness among the city’s Jewish population. Known for her staunch criticism of Israel, Sawant’s campaign featured pronounced anti-Israel rhetoric and the potential adoption of BDS. Jewish organizations in the city equate such motions to anti-Semitism and implore Mayor-elect Sawant to ensure the local Jewish community’s safety.

– October Inflation Trends in Israel:

Israel’s Consumer Price Index witnessed a 0.5% hike in October, mirroring economists’ estimates. Maintaining September’s rate, the inflation in Israel clocked at 2.5%. Prices for houses dipped for the seventh straight month by a rate of 0.3%, confirming the Bank of Israel’s forecasts, thereby raising the possibility of reductions in interest rates. Despite the overall slump, housing prices in Jerusalem and the north recorded increases.

– Christian Support for Israel Under Threat:

Robert Stearns, Eagles’ Wings founder, warns that Israel’s critical strategic alliance with the Christian world faces imminent challenges. Emphasizing Israel’s dire need to educate coming generations about its history and struggles, he cautions of potential disengagement. Stearns downplays theological motives, insisting that support arises from repentance for past wrongs, gratitude, and shared threats from radical elements.

– Escalating Conflict between Israel and Turkey:

The conflict between Israel and Turkey continues to intensify, with US mediation attempts hitting a wall. Disputes around the marked increase in security ties between Greece and Israel, especially Israeli objections to Turkish troop presence in Gaza, fuel the tension. Despite the discord, Turkey seemingly hosts economic infrastructures related to Hamas.

– Academic Outburst Causes Stir Among Israeli Research Universities:

The Council of Presidents and Rectors of Research Universities in Israel voiced concern following a controversial incident involving Deputy Minister Almog Cohen during an academic lecture by Dr. Sebastian Ben Daniel. The Council decried the unpleasant event, advocating for zero tolerance for disorder and violence, and urged official condemnation from relevant bodies, including the Israeli government.

– Potential Earthquake Threats for Israel:

Dr. Hyman outlined potential earthquake scenarios for Israel from two principal sources. One emanating from the Dead Sea rift extending from Sharm El-Sheikh to Turkey, and the other due to the boundary between Africa and Europe. Either geological interaction could significantly affect Israel depending on the quake’s intensity and proximity.

– Tussle Over UN Resolution for Gaza Strip:

US efforts to get a UN Security Council resolution ratified regarding the establishment of an International Stabilization Force in Gaza have been met with Russian resistance. While the US plan leans towards Palestinian statehood and Trump’s original blueprint, Russia’s proposal, containing more liberal terms for Gaza, could delay the process with Russia’s power of veto.
