The United States temporarily suspended intelligence sharing with Israel amid concerns of Israel’s methods in its conflict with Gaza. The disruption, which happened in the second half of 2024, included a pause in live video feeds from American drones used by Israel to track Hamas operatives.

– Pensions Stir Controversy in Israeli Government:

An argument over pension plans for high-ranking Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) officials has sparked a government dispute. The issue involves the “Chief Increase” practice, where top-ranking military officials receive additional benefits without legal authority, generating a billion-shekel deficit. The Israeli government and IDF officials are seeking a resolution.

– Anti-Semitic and Anti-Israeli Campaigns Under Investigation:

Israeli authorities have intensified their investigation into suspected orchestrated anti-Semitic and anti-Israel campaigns on social media and on Western campuses. Allegations suggest a state-sponsored initiative is causing significant harm to Israel. Although the exact source of the campaigns is unknown, suspicion is toward countries like Qatar, Russia or potentially China.

– Heightened Israeli Political Extremism:

Political extremism has marked recent years in Israel, characterised by heated public discourse and fractured unity. Despite these challenges, a shared common future unites Israeli Jews and Arabs in the wake of conflicts and threats.

– Egypt, Jordan, and Bahrain Consider Renewing Relations with Israel:

High-level discussions between Egypt, Jordan, and Bahrain suggest a potential renewal of relations with Israel post-Gaza war. However, Egypt presents specific requirements including direct talks with the Israeli Prime Minister, and opposes certain US mediation efforts seen to bolster political standings in Israel.

– Severe Flooding in Israel and Rescue Operations:

The aftermath of storm Byron saw record rainfall and severe flooding in Israeli areas. Cooperation between special forces and the Israeli Emergency and Volunteer Organization “ZAKA,” resulted in successful rescue operations and of a missing woman showing signs of severe hypothermia.

– US Ambassador Refutes Allegations Against Israel:

The US ambassador firmly denies allegations asserting Israel is blackmailing the United States through files related to billionaire Jeffrey Epstein. The ambassador has called the assertions outrageous and baseless, and warns that such claims could lead to substantial harm.
