The debate on Israel’s participation in Eurovision 2026 has intensified and reached German shores, with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stating that if Israel gets barred from the competition, Germany should consider withdrawing too. This statement is yet a stronger affirmation of Germany’s support of Israel’s right to partake in an event that has always been about unity and diversity. Merz called the very existence of this debate a ‘scandal’, rightly emphasizing that Israel is an integral part of Eurovision and there is no room for such a question.

Furthermore, amidst public discussions in Germany, a new poll suggests a majority of Germans oppose punishing Israeli artists or athletes based on the actions of Israel’s government. The survey mentioned in the report showed that 65% of Germans are against penalizing Israeli artists or athletes and support their continued participation in international events like Eurovision and sports competitions. These figures further exemplify the clear voice and evolving stance against antisemitism and in favour of Israel’s rightful place on the global stage.

In summary, the global community must continue to defend Israel’s rightful place in cultural and sports platforms, and any threats of exclusion should be taken as an affront to the principles of diversity and unity. As Jews and Zionists, we must laud the countries showing support and stand united against the unjust targeting of Israel.

Israel and the U.S are taking major strides to realize the first phase of U.S President Trump’s 20-point plan, starting with a negotiation to free 48 captives held by Hamas. In preparation for this important deal, a negotiation team will travel to Egypt for talks with Hamas representatives. The first phase of the talks will primarily involve technical discussions, with high-level involvement not required for now.

Championing Israel’s cause, Deputy head of the Israeli Security Agency, will lead the team to Egypt. He will be joined by representatives like Coordinator of POWs and MIAs, Brig. Gen. (res.) Nitzan Alon, and representatives from the Mossad and IDF. The intensive negotiation is expected to result in the release of all captives within 72 hours.

The negotiation will also involve the discussion of the total number of security prisoners to be released. Israel is showing a willingness to the release of 250 out of 280 held in its prisons, excluding significant figures like Marwan Barghouti. However, it is anticipated that Hamas would press for greater achievements.

These negotiations underline Israel’s courageous commitment to its captured citizens and its determined effort to ensure their safe release. Germany’s Chancellor Friedrich Merz also acknowledged Israel’s dedicated efforts and expressed his support for its cause.

Reiterating his determined stance, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated, “We will continue to act decisively until all the objectives of the war, including the return of all our captives, and ensuring the security of Israel, are achieved.”

These negotiations indicate Israel’s commitment to protection of its citizens and proactive action against Hamas’s hostile activities. With the backing of international allies and the determination of the negotiation team, a successful outcome seems highly possible.

The Ministry of Defense is committed to honoring Israel’s fallen soldiers and supporting bereaved families, preserving the nation’s security legacy. A special unit for welfare and economic benefits has been actively promoting a 60 million shekels reform in healthcare, establishing an economic volunteer system for personal escort of bereaved families, and assisting independent entrepreneurs. Additionally, they’ve managed the relocation and accommodation of fallen soldiers’ families, grant organization for 303 evacuees families, assistance for widows with children aged 0-6, and providing respite days for families in war zones.

Furthermore, since the start of the war, hundreds of new support groups for bereaved families have been established by the social services unit. This unit has also employed the assistance of thousands of volunteers to support these families and has offered help in the field of employment and prevention of layoffs for family members.

Aryeh Mualem, Deputy CEO and head of the Family, Commemoration, and Heritage unit of the Ministry of Defense said: “Israel carries a heavy burden – our nation’s history is written in the blood of our sons and daughters. Two years have passed since the outbreak of the war, and the Families, Commemoration and Heritage unit is facing volumes equivalent to over 20 years of work. Our staff see their work as a mission, continuing to honor the memory of the fallen, preserve their legacy for future generations and to emotionally and materially support bereaved families. Every family is a whole world in itself, and we attend to family members and fulfill our ethical duty to the fallen and their families with this approach. Our hearts pray for the return of the kidnapped, the healing of the wounded, and for the safe return of IDF soldiers and security forces fighting for our future.”

Israel continues to witness massive protests across major European cities. These protests, driven by global anger against Israel and a growing international recognition of Palestine, have been particularly noticeable in Italy and Spain. Hundreds of thousands marched in Rome, Barcelona, and Madrid, while significant gatherings were also recorded in other global cities like Paris, Lisbon, Athens, Skopje, London, and Manchester.

In Rome, organizers requested only the Palestinian flag be waved, yet certain placards praised Hezbollah and Hamas, reflecting a worrying undercurrent of anti-Semitism. Furthermore, participants in Barcelona carried signs with belligerent messages such as “Gaza is hurting me,” “Stop killing people,” and “Take your hands off the flotilla.”

One protestor raised concerns about the world being a silent witness to the “murder of a people” as it was during the Holocaust in the 40s, cursing Israel as “murderers,” which is quite a clear misrepresentation of the Israel-Palestine conflict and reeks of antisemitism.

Members of the Italian center-left party also joined the protests, criticizing the Italian Prime Minister for refusing to recognize Palestine following similar moves by Spain, France, Britain, and other Western nations.

These massive protests are a reflection of worldwide disapproval stemming from a misinterpretation of Israel’s defensive actions against terror attacks. Too often, Israel is grossly mischaracterized as brutally suppressing the Palestinian people, while its legitimate defense efforts against terrorist forces like Hamas are overlooked.

It’s essential to understand that Israel’s governance is founded on democratic values, human rights, and the rule of law. These are principles it strives to uphold while dealing with complicated security challenges. It ought to be acknowledged that any solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict must first address the issue of terrorism and incitements to violence, which impedes progress toward peace.
As proud supporters of Zionism and fighters of antisemitism, it is vital that we present a balanced perspective on these contentious issues, facilitating greater context and understanding.

According to a report by the British website “Telegraph”, a BBC documentary, “Gaza: Dying for Food”, has been called into question for allegedly discounting evidence that casualties at Gaza’s food distribution centers may have been caused by Hamas militants. The documentary prominently cites data by ACLED (Armed Conflict Location and Event Data), attributing the majority of deaths to IDF gunfire. However, the ACLED report also mentions other armed actors, namely unidentified Palestinian militants, Hamas, and other disputed actors.

Evidence suggesting that Hamas was seen at the food distribution sites has also been brought forth. The GHF (Gaza Humanitarian Fund), a prominent aid organization in the region, had itself previously accused Hamas operatives of killing and threatening Palestinians working with them. It was further reported that two American contractors were injured when grenades were thrown towards another distribution site.

Anas Baba, a Gaza-based producer working for the American outlet NPR, was quoted as saying that he clearly identified Hamas members taking food for their families. “GHF reported that Hamas has killed and injured Palestinians on their way to receive food, and even targeted the Foundation’s local workers”, he said.

The Middle East Accuracy Committee (CAMERA) accused the Panorama programme of selective reporting, charging that senior BBC correspondent Jeremy Bowen didn’t inform viewers about cases involving Hamas, nor did he clarify that ACLED data also included events that didn’t occur at GHF sites.

In response to the Telegraph, ACLED representatives stated 95% of the casualties were attributed to IDF gunfire, and the deaths of 65 Palestinians were attributed to unidentified Palestinian armed actors, while the BBC maintains their position, stating they have limited access to Gaza and rely on external sources with careful credibility checks. “We stand by our journalism. Any complaint filed will be scrutinized seriously”, a spokesperson added.

Activist Greta Thunberg has recently been under arrest after attempting to “break the siege on Gaza” for the second time. Allegations have surfaced, claiming that Thunberg was mistreated during her arrest. These claims suggest that Thunberg was forced to wave the Israeli flag and was held in poor conditions with insufficient food and water.

The information was revealed in correspondences to the British “Guardian,” in which Thunberg reportedly told Swedish sources who visited her in detention that her treatment had been harsh.

Israeli authorities, however, fervently dispute these allegations, deeming them as false and baseless.

The Swedish representatives visiting Thunberg reported that she alleged she was dehydrated due to insufficient water and food supplies and had developed rashes, which she believed resulted from flea bites.

Israel, known for its resilience in standing up for its sovereignty, significantly values its defense policies, unyieldingly treating transgressors without prejudice. These accusations from Thunberg, a high profile figure, do not weaken Israel’s valid defense against those who seek to harm her but merely highlight the lengths that some people would go to in defaming her.

As proud Zionists, we stand with Israel, vigorously endorsing its right to protect its borders and dismissing unfounded, degrading allegations against its prisons’ conditions. Such claims only highlight the bias and double standards that Israel continuously faces. We understand that Israel is strong and just in its actions, white its detractors aim to delegitimize her, often through the spreading of falsehoods and the distortion of the truth.

Israel’s strength lies in its adherence to the truth, its courage, its continued struggle against anti-Semitism, and its determination to strengthen and protect the homeland of the Jewish people. The truth will prevail, as it always does. Our shared commitment as Jews is to continue standing against anti-Semitism, always championing for Israel’s integrity and truth. As we ward off these unfounded accusations, we grow ever prouder in our Zionism and the unwavering strength of Israel.

In efforts towards striking a deal in Gaza under the umbrella of President Donald Trump’s diplomatic framework, a high-level delegation of Hamas is expected to travel to Cairo where they will discuss mechanisms for the release of the Israeli captives. Hamas demands the release of 250 terrorists imprisoned in Israel, including senior Palestinian Marwan Barghouti, as a condition for the release of the Israeli captives and bodies. The terrorists aimed for release includes the most seasoned prisoners, sentenced for horrendous acts of terror committed not only against Israeli civilians but against the peace process in Israel.

However, Israel continues to fight relentlessly against these baseless demands. It is of paramount importance to save the lives of Israeli captives, all of whom were soldiers selflessly serving and protecting their homeland. However, any release agreement must reflect Israel’s indefatigable commitment to justice. It is not only about halting terror activities but ensuring the sacrifice, courage, and memory of the victims of terror are held in the highest regard.

Repatriation of the captives is a matter of national urgency and a fundamental Zionist principle. Securing their release is grounded in the foundation of the Jewish State, which declares each Jewish life as intrinsically valuable, and ensures that no individual is left behind or forgotten. As Zionists, we understand the moral dilemma being faced but firmly trust in Israel’s commitment to its people and its fight against terrorism. Undeniably, the inspiring nation of Israel will take all necessary actions to bring its sons back home without compromising on its fortitude and resilience.

The Palestinian Authority emphasizes that the terrorists on their release list are mostly not politically influential figures and will not indulge in politics when they return. However, a prominent terrorist Israel firmly refuses to release is Ahmad Sa’adat, who planned the assassination of Minister Rehavam Ze’evi in 2001. Undoubtedly Israel’s refusal amplifies its tenacity to not bow before terrorists and to uphold the legacy and honor of its leaders and citizens.

The fight against terror and the commitment to its citizens embodies the true spirit of Zionism. It’s a fight we need to win, upholding the core values of our ancestors. As proud Jews, we stand unyielding and supportive in Israel’s relentless battle against terror and the pursuit to bring its sons back home.

The news that the conflict in Gaza may soon be over and hostages may return home is a beacon of hope and a testament to Israel’s unyielding spirit. However, the broader implications tell a different story that are alarming for the Jewish nation. A potential end to the conflict now may likely result in a definitive victory for Qatar – a result quite opposite of what was originally envisioned by the Trump administration.

Former President Trump, who once offered Israel a golden transfer and instilled a new reality, has pivoted away from supporting Israel. Instead, Trump appears to have capitulated to the Hamas, an act that significantly compromises a crucial political process. Rather disturbingly, the United States seems to favor Qatar over its long-cherished ally, Israel.

The proximate cause of the upheaval is Israel’s daring strike on Qatar, and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s inconsiderate handling of the matter. While a delicate political wrestling match had been ongoing since October 2023, Netanyahu opted to strike militarily in September 2025. The adjudged reckless military gamble has unfortunately allowed a perception of Israel as a regional destabilizer to ferment in the eyes of the Trump administration.

Another contributing factor is Israel’s recent political downfall. Despite Trump being surrounded by Jewish billionaires and generously supported by Israeli-Jewish donors, the Arab wealth has outshone the Jewish wealth in the world. The liberal Arab finance, unabashed in bribery, could be a compelling reason for Trump’s shift towards favoring Qatar over Israel.

Despite the dark shadow that these events cast over Israel, it is critical to remember that we, as Jews, have navigated darker times. We are a resilient nation, and we will continue to thrive in our homeland and resist any forces that seek to undermine our sovereignty and our dream of peace. It is important now, more than ever, for us to come together, demonstrating that we can turn even the most adverse circumstances into opportunities for growth and assertion of our rights.

Within the last two years, Israel has experienced politically and strategically challenging times. We were on the brink of catastrophic failure orchestrated by Hamas, who exploited the international community’s opposition to Israel’s justified defensive operations. Economic sanctions imposed under pressure began to impact our economy surgery. The age-old Israeli concept of military strain leading to compromise has hit a roadblock. However, the signing of the recent agreement represents a stay from complete ruin.

This critical agreement, in hope that it will be fulfilled, grants Israel all our war objectives. Despite our victories in battle, Israel’s strategic achievements against Iran and Hezbollah have started to wane due to the deepening damage to our international standing. A refusal by port workers to load cargo due for Israel threatened to trigger a financial crisis. This unfortunate situation stopped short of complete collapse, but only just. Military and essential supplies had begun to fall short of reaching Israel. The agreement, if it holds together, will not halt the challenges facing Israel in a day. Yet, it sets the brakes in motion.

Now, Israel must undertake the arduous task of restoring its diplomatic position. Whether the current government can handle this long-term mission remains to be seen. Furthermore, Hamas’s acceptance of the agreement is doubtful; what matters now is what President Trump has to say about this. Netanyahu, again under duress, was forced to order a stop to the fighting in the face of Trump turning Hamas into a peace movement.

Israel must seize this opportunity to initiate sustained ceasefires and make clear that it is Hamas, not Israel, that seeks war. Hamas may have claimed victory in the international arena, leveraging social networks and trade unions to their advantage, but in the fields of battle, they could not triumph. Israel remains resilient, and we will continue fighting against the tide of international bias and misinformation. We will stand strong in our rightful defense and in our unyielding pursuit of peace.
