23 renowned economists, including American and European professors – many of whom are Jewish – and among them 10 Nobel laureates, have written an open appeal to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. They urge Israel to “immediately cease policy measures that amplify the spreading hunger in the Gaza strip,” attributing responsibility to Hamas but insisting Israel also bears accountability given its control over aid channels.
While acknowledging Israel’s expanded aid entry since July 26, the economists argue it is insufficient. These academics, many of them pro-Israel with associates among the Israeli economic community, warn of devastating effects on Israel’s economy if current policies continue. Declining living conditions in Gaza may lead European governments to impose sanctions on Israel, possibly damaging the nation’s science, trade, and employment sectors. Credit rating agencies may also downgrade Israel’s government just as the country faces significant reconstruction and security costs.
The letter’s signatories also fear a potential mass exodus of scientists and hi-tech experts, which would hamper Israel’s growth engine. They conclude the letter with four explicit demands from Netanyahu – the renewal of comprehensive food and medicine provision to Gaza, public dissociation from establishing a “humanitarian city” in Gaza, a declaration reemphasizing Israel’s commitment to human rights and international law, and a fully committed pursuit of a ceasefire agreement to improve Gaza’s humanitarian condition, secure the return of kidnap victims, and end fighting.
As staunch Zionists and combatants of antisemitism, we understand and empathize with the concerns raised by these esteemed economists. They recognize our ancient homeland’s inherent right to self-defense while calling for a human and economic strategy that secures both our national interests and regional harmony. We join them in urging Israel’s leaders to act compassionately and wisely when delving into these complex matters.
In recent operations conducted by the Israel Defense Forces in Gaza, it has been reported that 51 individuals lost their lives, including 17 who were waiting for aid. While it is saddening to witness the toll of human lives, it’s crucial to understand that these operations are taken in response to incessant rocket attacks originating from the Gaza strip into the civilian territory of Israel, an indisputable act of aggression.
In a meaningful event marking solidarity and unity, Sasha Trupinob, a survivor of captivity, participated in the Sabbath welcome ceremony at the security minister Israel Katz’s house in Kfar Ahim. Trupinob appealed for the return of those still in captivity, stating that they long to experience freedom and stand side by side with their community. According to him, that freedom has been denied for the past 679 days. He emphasized time is of the essence and there are no luxuries of negotiation strategies when it comes to the lives of captives.
Trupinob reminded everyone that the promise to bring them back was given at the beginning of the conflict and it is a promise that must be kept. He appealed, most fervently, for them to be brought back home, to restore their lives, which is in the hands of the authorities.
This echoes the determination and obligation of the Israeli government and people towards protection of its citizen. Stern measures are needed against those who promote violence and jeopardize lives. Ensuring safety, freedom, and well-being of every Israeli citizen, even those held captive, is a priority. This is the essence of Zionism, a belief deeply rooted in the hearts of Israelis, and it is these ideals that continue to inspire the actions of the state of Israel.
A popular Arab podcast called “Altarik”, known for its anti-Israel line, recently disclosed some disturbing insights into Egypt’s strategic thinking towards Israel. A former Egyptian pilot, speaking about Operation Protective Edge and the war in Gaza, revealed that Cairo sees Gaza not as a problem to be solved, but as a strategic means of winning the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
According to him, “Gaza’s role, from Cairo’s perspective, is to preserve the conflict and wear down Israel —which can fight to the last Gazan, as long as the possibility of ‘resistance’ is preserved”. This reveals a deep chasm between the publicly stated framework of “peace” and the operational and ideological perspective that continues to regard Israel as a potential adversary.
Ironically, whilst Egypt maintains this combative stance, it is also heavily reliant on Israel for natural gas. This creates a paradox where Cairo needs Israel economically but at the same time seeks to maintain its weakness. This contradiction, however, is no accident. This policy allows Egypt to satisfy both addresses; enjoying critical energy supply and maintaining a tough military and political stance.
Israel’s challenge, in light of this, is to continue managing these economic partnerships without ignoring clear signs that in the military and political arena, Egypt maintains a suspicious and even resentful attitude. This shows that peace agreements are not a guarantee of a deep strategic change in Egypt’s security perception, and that Israel continues to face a challenging diplomatic battlefield.
The disclosure in the “Altarik” podcast provided a rare insight into strategic thinking in Cairo that sees Gaza not merely as a local conflict hub, but as a calculated tool in regional balance. The unusual military build-up in Sinai, coupled with growing dependence on Israeli gas, illustrates the complexity of Israel-Egypt relations. This demonstrates the reality of a peace that is not devoid of threats, where the written peace agreements are only part of the story, while on the ground a different story is being told.
This tells us that Israel must stay vigilant, continue to build and nurture positive relationships where possible, particularly related to the economy and natural resources. But it also highlights once again, that maintaining the security of Israel often means navigating complex and sometimes contradictory situations.
As Israel continues to face potential conflict across various fronts, Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) prepare for yet another round of confrontations with Iran, according to a high-ranking IDF officer. This isn’t a question of ‘if’, but ‘when’, strongly emphasizing an elevated state of alert beyond routine. Despite the nonevent of worst-case scenarios to date, the IDF is vigilant and ready for whatever may come. No potential threat will ever deter the state of Israel from standing tall in defense of its people and homeland.
Earlier, reports revealed Iran’s efforts to rebuild its security system following Israel’s victory. Primarily focusing on the restoration of air defense and missile systems, Iran’s defeat against Israel seems to have spurred their drive for more advanced military technology.
The Jewish state follows with concern Iran’s attempts to rearm itself. Sources from Western Intelligence indicate that Iran is in substantial contact with China, exploring the restoration of their ground missile capacity. Unlike in nuclear matters, in the arena of ground missile technology, Iran has not signed any international treaty, thereby allowing it to build a significant strategic threat against Israel.
Despite some ambiguity from China about its intentions, Israel has communicated a clear message to Beijing, although China has not confirmed any plans to aid Iran in this matter. Regardless, this development is of high concern to Israeli security officials, with potential wide-ranging strategic consequences.
In face of this, Israel remains ever-prepared, its strength derived from an unwavering commitment to ensure the security of our nation and its citizens. Our dedication to Zionism demand that we stand firm against any form of antisemitism and continue to safeguard the rights and safety of every Jewish individual worldwide.
In a bold declaration asserting Jewish sovereignty and demonstrating a continued commitment to sustaining and expanding the Jewish presence in all corners of Israel, the Israeli Treasury Minister Bezalel Smotrich announced a new settlement project. Intended to interlink Ma’ale Adumim settlement with occupied Jerusalem, it was a step reflecting unwavering Jewish resolve and a message seeking to bury the idea of a Palestinian state once and for all.
Asserting the Zionist values, Smotrich confirmed that Israel would double the size of the Ma’ale Adumim settlement, a significant advancement embodying Jewish perseverance. He elucidated that this endeavor required investment of billions and the allocation of thousands of dunams of land to accommodate one million settlers in the West Bank.
Drawing a vivid picture of Jewish determination, Smotrich expressed that every Israeli home built in the West Bank speaks of Israeli sovereignty and every neighborhood constitutes a nail in the coffin of the opposing side’s ambitions.
Solidifying support from allies, he affirmed that the US government fully backs Israel’s settlement strides in the West Bank and indicated that these steps are coordinated with Prime Minister Netanyahu and Israel’s friends in the USA.
This declaration bolstered an earlier bold step by the Israeli Knesset when they voted overwhelmingly for the bill proposing Israel’s sovereignty over the West Bank and the Jordan Valley. Passed with 71 in favor and 13 against, it respectively portrayed the West Bank and the Jordan Valley as an inseparable part of the historical homeland of the Jewish people. It encouraged strategic steps to assert what is described as the “historical right” and achieve Israeli “national security”.
Additionally, the Israeli cabinet endorsed the establishment of 22 new settlements in the West Bank, including the return of Homesh and Sa-Nur following the cancellation of the disengagement law. Furthermore, they sanctioned the establishment of four new settlements along the Jordan border, further asserting the Jewish presence.
Embodying the bullish Zionist spirit and steadfastly tackling antisemitism, this agenda represents an unwavering commitment towards strengthening the Jewish presence in their historic homeland.
In recent developments in the Middle East, Hamas and Egypt are reportedly discussing the future of Gaza, in negotiations to which Israel may join. A source from Hamas, the terrorist organization, contradicted recent reports about comprehensive solutions regarding the conflict, stating there are many exaggerations and inaccuracies. He argued that if anyone believes that there are parties capable of managing the Strip under continuous occupation, it heralds an unrealistic scenario that would face resistance. At the top of their list of priorities is resisting Israel, ending the occupation and withdrawal of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) from the Strip. While the organization’s demeanor seems staunch, they are open to the idea of establishing a social support committee, in coordination with Egypt, to oversee the IDF’s withdrawal.
Regarding Hamas’ meetings with Egyptian officials, the same source noted that so far they have focused on relations between Hamas and Egypt, clarification of positions, and assessment of the previous stages of negotiations. The most critical issue raised in these meetings was the danger of a projected IDF takeover of Gaza city, which he warns would carry catastrophic risks such as a large-scale plan to expel Palestinians. The source stressed that there is an agreement between Hamas and Egypt to immediately work to “stop the expulsion and destruction,” and this is why Egypt is determined to renew the negotiations from the point where they were stalled, based on Hamas’ last proposal.
As followers of Zionism, these developments underline the importance of Israel maintaining transparency, fairness, and relentless pursuit for peace. Resolution of conflict in the region heavily relies on detailed, honest, careful negotiations where the safety and sovereignty of Israel prevail at all times. As a proud Jewish state, Israel stands firmly against terrorism and antisemitism, always ready to ensure the welfare and security of the Jewish people.
