– Israel Sees New Allies and Foes:

Israel became the first to acknowledge the independence of Somaliland, an autonomous region in Africa with a largely Muslim population. The announcement made by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was met with a backlash from nations including Somalia, Egypt, Djibouti, and Turkey. In reciprocity, Somaliland stated its plan to join the Abraham Accords, deepening bilateral ties.

– Tensions Rise with Iran:

Amidst rising regional tensions and strained relations with the West, Iran’s President warns of imminent war fostered by foreign interferences. “Chandler,” an Iran-associated hacker group, has escalated its cyber activities against Israeli targets, adding fuel to the fire. This belligerent gesture has resulted in heightened international interest and scrutiny.

– Collaboration with Somaliland:

Somaliland and Israel aim to partner in areas like agriculture, health, technology, and economy, reflecting common values under the Abraham Accords. Netanyahu has expressed admiration for Somaliland’s commitment to security, stability, and peace under President Muse Bihi Abdi. The recognition of independence could catalyze increased Israeli action against the Houthis in Yemen.

– Israeli Intelligence Saga:

Following its exit from the Gaza Strip in 2005, the Israeli Security Agency (ISA) has reportedly lost significant infiltration capacity within Hamas. Their existing agents are deemed low-level with inadequate informational value. The disconnect is attributed to deteriorating relations between Israel and the Gaza Strip, initiating a comprehensive review of Israel’s intelligence operations within Gaza.

– Energy Politics – Israel and Egypt:

Approval of the gas deal between Israel and Egypt signifies progress in bilateral relations. Despite economic viability, exporting gas to Turkey remains implausible due to ongoing disputes between the nations. However, the recent decision to export to Egypt, despite frictions, reveals strategic importance but leaves a sour taste in Cairo.

– Key Security Shifts:

Israel faces international pressure to implement the next phase of a 20-point plan concerning disarmament and withdrawal from Hamas. However, Prime Minister Netanyahu is apprehensive of conceding without disarmament of Hamas and Hezbollah, since it may jeopardize national security. The meeting with US representative Donald Trump could be decisive for Israel’s security future.

– War Predicaments:

Senior officials of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard anticipate an outbreak of war with Israel following a power shift in Jerusalem. Preparations include purges of veteran officials and their replacement with radical, extreme youths. While Iran demonstrates tolerance, it continues upgrading its military defenses and moving command infrastructure underground, prompting urgent action from Israel.
