These behind-the-scenes communications aim to kick start conversations that had previously stalled. Despite the talks not being official, the existence of such dialogues could suggest renewed movement within the process.
The government of then-US President Donald Trump was reportedly working towards a new political initiative aimed at securing the release of all Israeli prisoners held by Hamas. It strove to pursue this with a minimum number of steps to accelerate the process and limit their captivity.
Israeli political sources cited by Sada News contend that these discussions are intricate and only at the earliest stages of development and progress have been difficult, primarily attributable to Israel’s stance. American envoy Steve Wotkof reportedly met with Qataris to discuss a deal for the release of those kidnapped and the end of the war.
The I24 News channel reports that although Wotkof is working behind the scenes to resume discussions regarding a hostage deal, no breakthrough has been achieved that would enable the commencement of such talks.
